Creating your own jewelry is rewarding, pretty, and sometimes even profitable. You can make jewelry in different styles and use amazing techniques that elicit diverse looks.
Some styles of DIY jewelry, like beautifully twisted wire designs, appear quite complicated but you might be surprised to learn how manageable they really are with a little patience!
We need:
A set of hand tools.
When you’re starting our to make your own jewelry, you will need a few basic tools for wire wrapping jewelry, especially if this particular technique is something you want to get into. While the entry level is very low in terms of what tools you need, there are no two ways about it: you do need a few things to get going.
Copper wire.
Usually I use long pieces of wire. You can always cut off excess wire at the end of the job.
Bead with hole or crystal
Use appropriate copper wire thickness.
I make jewelry of wire 1 mm (18 ga) wire for the frames and 0.4 mm (26 ga) thick wire for the weaving.
You can use wire with a thickness of 0.8 mm (20 ga) wire for the frames and 0.3 mm (28 ga) wire for the weaving.

For my jewelry I use only natural wire (copper, nickel silver, bronze, brass, silver). I patinate jewelry with wire with special solutions and polish with felt circles using polishing pastes. Sometimes, so that the wire does not darken over time, I coat the metal with a special varnish.
