What kind of wire is needed to make a pendant.
For this pendant, I used nickel silver wire. You can use any other wire with a thickness of 1 mm for the base and 0.4 mm for the weaving.
We need 5 pieces of 1mm wire about 40-50 cm each. You should always have a big stock of 0.4mm thin wire. It will always come in handy.

What tools do I need to make a wire pendant?
We don’t need a lot of tools. A small set of basic hand tools for working with the wire will be enough.
If you patinate and polish the wire, you will need a patination solution and a polishing tool.

First, you need to measure the cabochon. To do this, take a strip of paper and wrap it around the cabochon.
Make marks with a marker. According to this size, you need to weave wire. The weaving should be this long.
Approximately in the middle, you need to weave a weaving of five basic wires to fix the cabochon. Have a look at Basic Wire weaving patterns.
My labradorite cabochon is quite thick with sloping edges. The wire weaving will clamp it well. You just need to fix it on the back side. To do this, I didn’t weave the one bottom wire (only secured the middle and edges) so that I could then bend it on the back side.
Carefully bend the weaving of wire around the cabochon.
Connect the weavings at the top of the cabochon. You can turn the cabochon upside down if you want.
I pressed the weaving tightly against the labradorite cabochon with a slight incline. I pressed to the shape of the cabochon. That way the cabochon is safe from falling forward.
So that the cabochon does not fall back, you need to bend two wires on the back side.
Sew, staple together the two weavings at the top of the cabochon.
Next, weave two wires together by any weaving technique. You should get five pairs as a result.
The cabochon is securely fastened by weaving of wire.
You can let your imagination run wild and create your own weaving patterns. Use weaving to make a loop for a cord or chain.
You can replicate my pendant design.
On the back side we cut off the excess wire and bend the ends, so they do not cling to clothing and do not scratch your skin.
